FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What can I expect at your workshops?
A:
We have workshops for pre-teens, teens, and youths.  They are all fun filled, exciting and energizing. We create a schedule that involves equal parts  of  ‘doing’ and ‘being’, words that you will hear a lot about during our workshop program.

Our workshop academy creates a force for self change.  It engages the participant to discover their greatness. The student leaves the program empowered and saying: “I believe in me because ………”  This six week program starts off with the end in mind by combining storytelling, communication exercises, discussing and implementing effective habits, body confidence and self esteem assessments and much much more! At the end of the program, we let our students shine at the fashion show gala night!

Q: My child is resisting coming to your workshops. I know it will be good for her personal development.  How can I convince her to come to your workshops?
A: Before you even get to us, the workshops start at home!  Our workshops are designed to compliment what you have done at home already.  You have believed in your child. There is no easy answer here, we encourage you, to trust your intuition and bring your child, no matter what! In all my years of teaching personal development programs, I HAVE NEVER HAD A CHILD REGRET COMING. I am happy to talk to your child on the phone or through email or Facebook and answer their questions about our amazing workshops.

Q: My child has a pretty good self esteem but needs to develop other skills.  Is your workshop only for troubled teens?
A: It’s awesome that your child has a good self esteem. Congratulations! The workshops aren’t built for “People with Problems” They are built for preteens, teens, and youths. Everyone is welcome to our workshop to have this amazing life journey.  There is no limit to strengthening life skills and there is always more to learn and lots to celebrate.

Q: I can’t come all the way to Edmonton and/or the dates don’t work for me. Do you ever travel to teach your workshops if I can bring together a group of teens?
A: Yes! You can email Harriet about bringing our workshop to your community: HTinka@empoweredyouth.ca

Q: What should I bring to your workshop?
A:
Just wear comfy clothes, comfy shoes and please bring your smile and get ready to get empowered!  We just want you to be yourself and celebrate your greatness!

Q: I am really interested in coming with my daughter, do you offer “Mother and Daughter” workshops?
A:  We offer this workshop for mothers and daughters as well to empower the bonding and relationship that mothers and daughters have. Please let us know if you are interested at info@empoweredyouth.ca

Q: Will I be the only one there who doesn’t know anyone? Do the students know each other beforehand?
A:  The workshops are made up of pre-teens, teens, and youths who initially don’t know each other.  By the time the program comes to an end, there are hugs, email exchanges, facebook invites etc. They also start wishing the workshops would go on one more week!  We create a kind of amazing instant community in just six weeks!  You meet the coolest people who will inspire you and you will inspire them.
